Personal injury first

Hurt in a wreck? Let’s talk it through.

A crash can turn a normal Tuesday into months of doctor visits, missed work and phone calls from insurance adjusters. Virginia’s injury rules are some of the strictest in the country. If you’re found even slightly at fault, you can be barred from recovering anything, and most claims must be filed within two years. Those are good reasons to get clear advice early.

Personal injury is the center of our practice. Partners Brent Shelton and Colby Warren both handle injury cases, including car collisions and commercial truck crashes. The first conversation is free and confidential. We’ll listen, tell you honestly what we see, and explain what happens next.

How fees workWe handle injury cases on a contingency-fee basis. You pay no attorney’s fee unless we recover for you. Ask us how case costs are handled.

Our promise

Law you can understand

Legal trouble is stressful. Legal language shouldn’t make it worse. If something we say doesn’t make sense, ask us, and we’ll explain it another way until it does. You’ll know what we’re doing, why we’re doing it, and what choices are yours to make.

How long do I have to sue for a personal injury in Virginia?

In most injury cases, two years from the date of injury under Virginia Code § 8.01-243(A). Some claims have different rules. Talk with a lawyer as soon as you can so your deadline is calculated correctly.

Can I recover if I was partly at fault?

Virginia’s contributory negligence rule can bar recovery if you are found even slightly at fault. Limited exceptions exist. Whether they apply depends on your facts.

What does a free injury consultation include?

A confidential conversation about what happened, what deadlines may apply and whether we can help. It does not create an attorney-client relationship until we agree in writing to represent you. Please do not send confidential documents through the website.

How do your injury fees work?

We handle injury cases on a contingency-fee basis. You pay no attorney’s fee unless we recover for you. Ask us how case costs are handled. The written fee agreement controls, and we’ll explain it before you hire us.

Do I have to come to the office?

We are happy to meet in Danville or Chatham. Phone and video consultations are often available, especially early on.
